Obituary of Louise B. Terruso

Louise B. (Barwick) Terruso, 94, of Buena Vista Twp., NJ went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2022. She was born to the late Robert and Vallena (Cox) Barwick on November 22, 1927. Louise was raised as a sharecropper's daughter in Deep Run, NC during the Great Depression. She attended Deep Run Schools where she graduated as the sole senior having accumulated enough credits at midyear. While in high school she lettered in basketball, proudly winning a county championship as a co-captain. Upon graduation she left the family farm and became a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Kinston, NC. In the 50's she moved to Hammonton, New Jersey where she raised her family. During this time, she worked several jobs and in 1967 went to work as a switchboard operator at Kessler Hospital until it closed after 44 years of service. In retirement she enjoyed working dawn till dusk in her yard and flower beds. After hours of working in the yard, she would entertain family with exquisite meals and unforgettable desserts. Louise is survived by her sons, Michael Terruso Sr. (Jean) and Mario Terruso Sr. (Linda); daughters, Paula Bellone (Frank) and Cheryl May (John); grandchildren, Melissa Gaultiere, Jason Terruso, Stephanie Garreffi, Johanna Reedy, Kimberly Dulowe, Frank Bellone, Kristy Fitchetola; 19 Great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and her sister Doris Parker. She was predeceased by her grandchildren, Michael Terruso Jr., Mario Terruso Jr. and Faith Ingemi; her sister Layune Hill and her brother William T Barwick. At Louise's request there will be no services.
