Obituary of Jack Francis Quinlan

Jack Francis Quinlan Sr. of Vineland, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 6th, 2022. Jack was born in Vineland on November 3, 1933, to George and Elizabeth (Shewchuk) Quinlan with his twin brother and best friend, Thomas G. Quinlan. He was raised on his family farm with his siblings where he developed his lifelong work ethic and always-enduring curiosity. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1952, he entered the U.S. Army and served as part of the National Guard in the 114th Tank Battalion. In 1958 he started his own business, Quinlan Plumbing and Heating, which later became Quinlan Well Drilling. In addition to serving many clients and friends throughout the tri-state area during his career, Jack was an active member within his community and continued to explore his many passions. Jack served as secretary of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, a volunteer fireman within the East Vineland Fire Company, and as a member of the Vineland Plumbers Association. An active member of St. Mary's Parish throughout his life, he was the President of the Holy Name Society and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. Jack also made lifelong friends as a member of the Never Rest Gun Club, the Photographic Society of Vineland, the Atlantic County Game Preserve, and the Estell Manor Game Preserve, where he served as secretary. Jack continued his education throughout his life and pursued a variety of interests. Jack maintained a lifelong love of the outdoors and was an active fisherman, hunter, and photographer for many years, often taking cross-country trips with his family and friends. A true family man, Jack loved being at home or at his house in Vermont, surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. In 1960, Jack married the love of his life, Geraldine Mattioli, to whom he was married for over 61 years. In addition to her, he is survived by his five beloved children, Jacqueline Quinlan, Thomas Quinlan (Christina), Joseph Quinlan (Michele), Jack Quinlan Jr. (Liliane), and Kathryn Poet (Robby), in addition to his ten cherished grandchildren, Thomas, Matthew, and Meghan Quinlan, Joseph and Michael Quinlan, Isabel and Jack Quinlan III, and Anna, Luke, and Claire Poet. Jack, or "Dad/ Pop-Pop" as he was known, was devoted to his family and was a loving and constant fixture in all their lives. He is also survived by his sister Georgette (Edward) Murphy. Jack will be missed dearly by many more family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Elizabeth Quinlan and twin brother Thomas Quinlan. A funeral home visitation will be held on Thursday evening, March 10 from 6pm to 8pm at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ and at the church on Friday morning from 9:45am to 10:45am followed by a funeral mass at 11am from Saint Padre Pio Parish - Church Of Our Lady Of Pompeii, 4680 Dante Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in St Mary's Cemetery- Vineland.
