Obituary of Gary Michael McGrath Sr.

Gary Michael McGrath, Sr., 68, of Vineland, NJ passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Cooper University Hospital. Gary was born on July 7 1953 in Camden, NJ to William and Carmel McGrath. Gary graduated from Deptford High School. He worked as a Welder for many years at Limerick Generating Station and Shield Alloy. He also worked at Wawa and Home Depot before retiring. In his younger years he loved spending time in the woods, hunting and was a member of Y-Buck & Top Gun Muzzleloaders. Gary loved spending time with his wife Paula, golfing with his buddies and frequenting Berlin Mart and Cow Town with his grandchildren. He always enjoyed a good "cowboy movie" starring John Wayne. He is survived by his mother, Carmel McGrath; his wife of 24 years Paula (Petrone) McGrath. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Joe Merker; son Gary M. McGrath Jr.; and daughter and son-in-law Liz and Tom Aleksiejczyk; grandchildren, Alyssa, Joey, A.J., Gavin, Khloe, Patrick and Ava; brother and best friend William D. McGrath (Kathy); sisters, Donna Zagiel (John) and Eileen Bacani (Paul);and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gary was predeceased by his father William Gregory McGrath. A funeral home visitation will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 from 2pm to 3pm followed by a Memorial Service at 3 pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Everyone is asked to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
