Obituary of Elwood T. Gundaker

Elwood "Bud" Gundaker, Jr., 71 of Vineland, departed this earth to be with the Lord on Friday, January 1, 2010. He was born to the late Elwood T. and Elizabeth (Long) Gundaker and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. Bud served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. To know Bud was a rare privilege for he was a rare individual. He will be remembered for the multitude of good deeds he has performed. Always known for being helpful to others, Bud was passionate about building strong business and local communities. If he knew of someone in need, he did not hesitate to organize a huge fundraiser and help in any way possible. He was a Crusade Chairman and then a past President of the American Cancer Society Atlantic County Unit; served on the board of the Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce, a past President of the Administration Management Society and Honored as "Man of the Year' by the South Jersey Cancer Fund for his many years dedicated to helping others. He also received an award from The Chapel of the Four Chaplains in recognition of his outstanding humanitarianism and concern for others. He was on the Board of Directors and was instrumental in growing the annual "Maloney's Bike-a-Thon in Margate, NJ. Bud was an honorable man in both business and his family life. He was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him especially players on the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Flyers, Smoking Joe Frazier, Joe DiMaggio, Tug McGraw, Rick MacLeish, Jersey Joe Walcott, Franco Harris, Vic Damon, Jerry Vale, Pinky Kravitz, Sonny Schwartz, Nelson Sardelli, Sid Ascher, Jerry Lewis and Frank Sinatra. He will be forever missed by his loving Wife Elizabeth, children Pamela Renzulli of Galloway, Stephen Gundaker of Ocean City, Wendy Judd of Oakland Park, FL, Dan Mathews of Baltimore, Md and Nicholas Gundaker of Vineland. Bud is survived by four grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
