Obituary of Francesca Gross

Francesca "Frances" Albanese Gross, 99, of Vineland, passed away on December 27, 2021 in Vineland, NJ. She was born on January 7, 1922 in Arnold, PA to the late Frank and Theresa (Novelli) Albanese. At the age of 21, Frances joined the Social Services Division at Harding Field Air Base in Baton Rouge, LA with the rank of Sergeant. She remained in service until November 1945. Frances attended Marinello Beauty and operated her own beauty shop on Landis Avenue in Vineland. Frances married David Gross in 1948 and they remained together for 61 wonderful years. Frances became a professional model and was also active in the Vineland Little Theatre. She is survived by her daughters, Joan Abriola and Jean Asselta; her son and daughter-in-law, William and Judy (Calkin) Gross; her four grandchildren, Richard Asselta (Ashley), Terri Cohen (Michael), Laura Mayer (Kirk) and Tim Gross and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Dylan Cohen, Scarlett Asselta, Olivia Asselta, Adalyn Mayer and Emelia Mayer. Frances is predeceased by her husband, David; grandson, Jamey Gross; and her sisters, Mary Lacioppa, Edith Spinosi, Elizabeth Gagliardi and Helen Gagliardi A graveside service and burial will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 12:00 pm from Alliance Cemetery, 970 Gershal Ave, Norma. Everyone is asked to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
