Obituary of Elizabeth Bertoldi

Elizabeth (Cavosi) Bertoldi of Vineland peacefully passed into the arms of her awaiting husband, Mario on Friday, November 5th while in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her family and compassionate caregiver, Irene. Elizabeth was born in Coaldale, Pa on March 4, 1926 to the late Bruno and Mary (Conci) Cavosi. For health reasons, the family moved to Brooklyn, NY where her father worked as a blacksmith building one of the New York City tunnels. After WWII, they followed many of their Tyrolian friends to Vineland to become poultry farmers. This is where she met her future husband, Mario Bertoldi and they were married on November 22, 1947. They began their life together on Butler Avenue where they raised their four children and worked side-by-side in their poultry business. Elizabeth also worked as a seamstress in various clothing factories in the Vineland and Millville areas. A talented seamstress, Elizabeth designed and sewed her own wedding gown and bridesmaids' dresses. She loved sharing her talent by helping others and continued to do so well into her 90s. Elizabeth is survived and will be sadly missed by her daughter, Diane Owens(James); her sons James Bertoldi (Dorothy), Arthur Bertoldi (Kate Yeager), and Michael Bertoldi (Karen); 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; her sister, Rita Bertoldi; in-laws, Carlo and JoAnn Bertoldi and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friends; Mary, Catherine and Rena whom she shared many Sunday afternoons around Elizabeth's kitchen table. Elizabeth is predeceased by her husband, Mario; her sister and brother-in-law, Clara and Louis Toffenetti; her in-laws, Pio Bertoldi, Lena Bertoldi, Aldina Bertoldi, Ezio Bertoldi and Anna and Ike Merighi; and nephews Bruce Bertoldi and David Freedman. Funeral home visitations will be held on Tuesday evening, November 9th from 6pm to 8pm and again on Wednesday morning, November 10th from 9:30am to 10:30am at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am from Christ The Good Shepherd Parish - Church Of Saint Isidore The Farmer, 1655 Magnolia Road, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Everyone is required to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
