Obituary of Ezio Joseph Bertoldi

It is with heavy hearts that we announce our loved one, Ezio Joseph Bertoldi, left this world peacefully in his Vineland, NJ home on November 1, 2021 at the age of 96, although he had truly hoped to make it to 100. To quote him, "The Party is Over" but his journey continues in the hearts and memories of his friends and family. Ezio was born in Salter, Trentino-Alto Adige, Northern Italy on October 2, 1925 and came to America at age five with his mother and four of his six siblings to join his father on their family farm in South Vineland. He was the middle son of the late Carolina (Bott) and Joseph Bertoldi. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rita (Cavosi) Bertoldi; two daughters, Carol (Bertoldi) Freedman and Jacklyn (Bertoldi) Boscaglia and her husband "Tony" Anthony: six loving grandchildren will miss him terribly; Anthony Boscaglia and his wife Jessica, Andrea (Boscaglia) Ferrara and her husband Nick, Laurie Freedman, Andrew Freedman, Justin Bertoldi and Jessica Bertoldi along with two precious great-grandchildren Avery and Grayson Boscaglia; brother Carlo Bertoldi and his wife Joann; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Cavosi) Bertoldi and her predeceased husband and Ezio's eldest brother Mario. (Two Cavosi sisters married two Bertoldi brothers) and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and friends share in the loss of this funny and joyous man. He is predeceased by his son Bruce Bertoldi; son-in-law David Freeman; siblings, Anna (Bertoldi) Merighi, Pio Bertoldi, Lena Bertoldi and Aldina Bertoldi. Ezio and his brother, Mario, met the "Cavosi girls", Rita and Elizabeth from Brooklyn, NY in 1945 when they moved to South Vineland, NJ. Drafted to serve in the Korean Conflict in early 1951, he and Rita married on seven-day furlough in March of 1951 and then he left to serve in Germany for nineteen months. Ezio started Bertoldi Construction Company in 1952 after his return from his military service and he proudly built over 150 homes and/or businesses in the Vineland, NJ area in over 50 years of business. His legacy continues having mentored several family members in the construction business with the Bertoldi name. A church visitation will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 10am to 11:45am followed by a funeral at 12:00 pm from Christ The Good Shepherd Parish - Church Of Saint Isidore The Farmer, 1655 Magnolia Road, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Everyone is required to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. ARRANGEMENTS are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360 Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Bayada Hospice, 500 Grove Street, Ste 300, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
