Obituary of John Wallace Schossig
John Wallace Schossig, 59 of Vineland, passed away on October 20, 2021 after a brief illness in Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. John was born in Brooklyn, NY to John and Lillian Schossig on October 6, 1962. The family moved to Vineland when he was a child and he spent the rest of his life there. He attended Vineland High School and was a graduate of the class of 1980.
He spent his entire working career as a mechanic working for TMV Plumbing and later D'Amato Plumbing for a number of years. There was nothing that John couldn't fix when he was on a job site. Customers personally requested him because of all of his knowledge and expertise.
John enjoyed many activities, but his favorites were fishing, biking, motorcycle riding, dirt bike riding, gardening, vacationing and many other outdoor activities. He especially enjoyed making his homemade wine, salami and sausage with his buddies, especially his two lifelong friends Anthony Campanella and Thomas Foster. He also enjoyed hanging out and riding his Harley with his close friend Michael Brook.
Family was everything to John, and he worked hard to provide a great life for his family, but especially his beloved son Johnny. The happiest day of his life is when his son was born and whenever anyone asked him about his son he would smile and his face would light up. Whenever, he would speak about him all that you could see was how proud he was of his son, how much he loved him and all he has accomplished in his young life.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years Lisa Anne (Vastano); son John Matthew, brother Richard Schossig; sister Debbie Eckerdt (John); and brother James Melchiore as well as many nephews and nieces. As well as his "adopted family" Debbie Wallace-Long who he always called mom, Matthew Long and George Wallace who were like brothers to him. Also, he had many furry friends over the years, all that he loved so very much. He predeceased by his father John; his mother Lillian; and maternal grandparents Frances & Venencio Ordinario.
Funeral home visitations will be held on Tuesday evening from 6pm to 8pm and again on Wednesday morning from 10am to 11am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will private.
