Obituary of Ruth E. Greenblatt
Ruth (Rosenbaum) Greenblatt, a long-time resident of Vineland, New Jersey, and most recently of Voorhees, New Jersey, died peacefully on September 19, 2021. She was 96 years old. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1925, she was the third and youngest child of Dr. Michael Rosenbaum, an optometrist, and Mrs. Mary Levit Rosenbaum, a homemaker and civic leader. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, she wed Newton Greenblatt, a lawyer and a native of Vineland, in 1947. Mrs. Greenblatt was the mother of three children – two sons, Gary and Steven, and a daughter, Susan. After her son Steven died of leukemia in childhood, Mrs. Greenblatt earned a master`s degree in library science from Drexel University and served as director of the Beth Israel Congregation Library for many years, as well as serving as a librarian with the Vineland Public Library. She was also active in many civic causes. Mrs. Greenblatt is survived by her daughter, Susan Lieberman; four grandchildren - Stacy Greenblatt, Stephen Lieberman, Matthew Lieberman, and Marisa Lieberman; and two great-grandsons, Noah Lieberman and Ethan Lieberman. She was predeceased by her husband Newton, of 50 years; her sister, Esther Diamond; her brother, Sol Rosenbaum; and her two sons.
Graveside service will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 at 12:00PM in Alliance Cemetery, Gershal Ave. Norma, NJ.
Donations can be made in her memory to the Beth Israel Library in Vineland, NJ.
