Obituary of Jeanne Armato

On the morning of July 15, 2021, Jeanne Winslow Armato, 75, went home to be with the Lord as the result of an extended illness. She was born October 11, 1945 in Vineland, New Jersey. Jeanne graduated from Vineland High School in 1963, and went on to study English Literature at Glassboro State College. Later, she worked for her family's business, Winslow Pharmacy. In 1972, she married the love of her life, Edward Armato, Jr. Together they enjoyed entertaining and traveling with friends. Jeanne loved music, dancing, and her cats Polly, Heidi, Mandy, Susie, and Jenny. Stormy, most of all, held a special place in her heart. Stormy made it clear that she was in charge of Jeanne. Jeanne began work as an aide at Barse Elementary School, and then provided supplemental instruction for special education students at the elementary school named after her grandfather, Dr. John H. Winslow. She completed her degree at Glassboro in 1988, and graduated with honors and received a Bachelor of Arts dual degree in education and special education. She then taught emotionally disabled children for approximately ten years at Dr. Edward Johnstone Elementary School. She went on to teach high school English literature and special education at the Vineland Senior High. She enjoyed her students and delighted in their successes. She especially enjoyed sharing classic literature such as Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Shakespeare's Macbeth, and the heroic old English poem Beowulf. Jeanne was an avid reader and knowledgeable conversationalist. Her home was full of books and magazines on every topic. She retired in 2010, after 26 years of service for Vineland Public Schools. Jeanne was a woman of strong faith who believed in the infinite possibilities the world had to offer. She uplifted those around her with a positive attitude, and was truly beautiful, both inside and out. Jeanne is survived by her husband Edward of 49 years; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Becky Armato; nephews, Robert Jr and Michael and their families and her cousin Pat Besson and family. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Muriel Winslow, as well as, her beloved sister Jayne, and her step mother, Virginia O'Brien Winslow. Special thanks is extended to Jeanne's caregivers at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, including the 4th floor staff, cardiac care and ICU doctors and nurses. A funeral home visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 9am to 11am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
