Obituary of Inocencia Mendez
Inocencia Gil-Mendez, 89, of Vineland, NJ passed Friday, May 28, 2021, at Inspira Hospital. She was born January 5, 1932, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, to Julio Gil-Gonzalez and Arcadia Correa. She was a member of The Spanish Catholic Center, now The Divine Mercy Church.
She was a homemaker for most of her life.
She is survived by her children, Ivette and Darrell Starkey (from South Carolina), Isabel Mendez, Jose A., and Glenda Mendez. Loving grandmother to grandchildren: Thomas Lugo, Alexandra, and Matthew Smith; Adam and Kevin Bermudez, Lisa Marie Santos; Craig (from South Carolina), and Tamarah Starkey (from Charlotte, North Carolina); Kathy Herrera (from El Paso, Texas); Jose A. (Jay) Mendez (from Dover, New Jersey) and Raphael E. Mendez. Great great-grandchildren Carley, Noah, Jeremiah, and Elijah Renteria (from El Paso, Texas), Olivia, Emilia, and Sophia Bermudez; Leila-Isabella Broughton; Nazario Starkey, and Jordan Adderly (both from South Carolina) and her four-legged kids Penny and Canella Mendez.
Due to COVID-19, the funeral home still requires everyone to wear a mask and social distance.
A funeral home visitation will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 8am to 10am followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
