Obituary of Walter J Salmons

Walter J. Salmons, 82, lost his battle with dementia on February 17, 2021. Walt was born in Ventnor, NJ on February 13, 1939. He grew up in his beloved town of Newfield but later graduated from Ocean City High School, with baseball being a major part of his youth. At 18, Walt started his career in hairdressing and continued making people feel and look beautiful for the next 64 years in the Vineland Community. Twenty-five years ago he met the love of his life Rose and ever since they enjoyed dancing, traveling, and their favorite band, BLT. Walt never gave up a chance to see his grandchildren on the soccer field, stage, or wrestling mat. On weekends, he would enjoy watching the Phillies, Eagles, and Tiger Woods with Rose. On a sunny day there was no place he would rather be than the shores of Ocean City. Walter J was one of a kind with a vibrant spirit no one could match. He will be sorely missed but always remembered. He leaves behind his companion Rose Babilino; son Brad Salmons (Serse), daughter Megan DeTetta (Dan), stepchildren Vince Solazzo (Kathy), Gina Allewelt (Thom), Angela Schwegel (Adam), Carla Solazzo (Don); his grandchildren Ellie, Charlie, Oliver Salmons, DJ, Devin, and Jenna DeTetta; his godchild Alex Vitola and her family Nick, Nicole, and Evan; his buddy Brody; his beloved Salon Millennium Staff, and many dear friends and clients. Walt was predeceased by his mother, Katherine Donovan; father Claude C. Salmons Jr.; and his uncle/mentor Walter J. Donovan. Due to COVID-19 restrictions everyone is required to wear a mask and social distance. A church visitation will be held on Friday February 26, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am at Saint Padre Pio Parish 4680 Dante Ave, Vineland.
