Obituary of Jorge Perez

Jorge Perez, 90, of Vineland NJ met his Lord and Savior on February 3, 2021. He was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico to the late Adolfo Perez and Maria Alvelo. After graduating with honors in High School, Jorge moved to New York City where he worked as a shipping clerk until he enlisted in the US military. He proudly served his county during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1960. Jorge moved his family to Vineland in 1969. He worked for Prudential Insurance in Vineland until beginning his career in the US Postal Service until his retirement in 1992, earning an outstanding achievement for most unused sick time. He is still remembered to this day by many on his route as being a kind and friendly postman. During his retirement he also had a post as a crossing guard at Sacred Heart School from 2003-2016. As a devout Catholic, Jorge served as a proud member of the "Sociedad Santo Nombre de Jesus" (Holy name Society). His favorite pastimes included traveling, classic movies, news and watching sports, especially his beloved Phillies and Eagles! He enjoyed learning about new topics regarding history, religion, and technology, especially graphic design with his Apple Computer. The life lessons he leaves behind for his family were simple yet essential. Love your family, enjoy your meals, feel the music, and learn something new He is survived by his son George Perez (Donna); daughter Arlene Soto (Larry Cifaloglio); grandchildren George Perez (Liztbeth), Arlene Marie Soto, Vincent Perez (Tiffany), Francisco Soto Jr., Katrina Munson (Paul), Ana Saul (Rick); as well a 3 great-grandchildren Shannon, Vincent Jr. and Mia. Jorge was predeceased by Trinidad, his loving wife of 48 years as well as his three brothers Angel Luis, Adolfo and Carlos. Due to COVID-19 restrictions everyone must wear a mask and social distance. A church visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:45am to 11:45am followed by a funeral mass at 12pm from Divine Mercy Parish, 23 West Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
