Obituary of Donald Trucano
Donald Peter Trucano 89, of Vineland, passed away Monday February 1, 2020, at Spring Oak Assisted Living Facility in Vineland. Don was born in Vineland on October 26, 1931. He was a graduate of Vineland High School class of 1949 and served in the United States Navy from 1951- 1955. Donald was a respected Industrial Arts teacher at Veterans Memorial School in Vineland for 30 years. His degrees included a B.A. from Trenton State College, 1967 in Industrial Arts and Mathematics, and an M.A. from William Paterson College, 1980.
Don enjoyed watching and participating in many sports including bowling, softball, pool, fishing, and particularly golf and in later years tennis. He was known for his gardening skills and lovingly cultivated his "farm" on Washington Avenue where he grew a variety of vegetables including figs, avocados, and especially horseradish.
He is survived by his sisters Elinor Leonardo of Vineland and Tressa and husband Thomas Brown of Jupiter, Florida; nephews Michael Leonardo (Maria), Paul Leonardo, Jeffrey Leonardo (Caroline); and nieces Jessica Kalbach (David), and Maura Vail (Gordon). He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary (Morello) Trucano and brother-in-law Junior Leonardo.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
