Obituary of Charles Vincent Lewis

Charles Lewis, 65, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2021. Charles was a life long resident of Newfield and a friend to many. He was lovingly known by friends and family as "Boy Boy". After graduating from Vineland High school in 1974 he served in the Army National Guard for six years and enjoyed his time there. Charles owned his own business for over 30 years specializing in landscaping and lawn service, he took a lot of pride in his work and relationships with his customers. For many years he was an avid hunter, loved to race dragsters, riding motorcycles, he could always be counted on to lend a hand to a neighbor or friend and enjoyed being able to fix almost anything with an engine. Although he loved spending time with his family and friends his grandchildren were the center of his life from the moment his first grand daughter was born. He was known most proudly to them as "Papu". Charles fought his battle with cancer like he did everything in his life, with a lot of passion, pride and a will to never be taken down by anything. He will be missed by all who knew him as dad, brother, uncle, "boy boy" and most importantly "Papu". Charles is survived by his children, JoAnna Lewallen (Steven) and Charles Lewis (Kristi); his four grandchildren Andrea, Cheyenne, and Sofia Lewallen and Charlie Lewis; sister Grace Malone (William); brother in law Thomas Shramm; aunt Josephine Caporale; nieces Jennifer Mackafee (Charlie), Kristen Lee (Austin) and Anna Clements (Tyler); two great nieces and three great nephews and many cousins and life long friends that became his family. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Anna Lewis; his sister Angela Shramm and his nephew Daniel Shramm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions everyone is required to wear a mask and social distance. A funeral home visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9am to 11am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Final disposition will be private.
