Obituary of Charles J. Scarpa

Charles J. Scarpa Jr, 89, of Vineland passed away peacefully on January 10, 2021. Charles was born in Vineland to the late Charles Sr. and Caroline (Capano) Scarpa in 1931. He worked for the IBEW #592 for 35 years as an electrician before retiring. Charles was an excellent softball player. Since the age of 15 years he played in the Buena Vista Twp. Softball League until he was 70 years old. He had won over 350 games pitching in the modified softball league and was very popular in the Spanish Softball League. Charles was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Newfield; he was an associated member of The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 8 for 25 years and an active member of the North Vineland Fire Department Company # 3 for 25 years, before retiring in 1980. He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Carrie & Darrell Dalton; son-in-law, Peter F Coccaro III; grandchildren, Darrell Dalton (Crystal), Karli Dalton (Pete), Peter Coccaro IV (Brooke) and Kaelin Coccaro (John); seven great-grandchildren, Kylie, Chase, Bristol, Cole, Ryder, Angelina and Peter; his former wife Jerri Brown; longtime companion Jane Philpot and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents, Charles was predeceased by his daughter, Sheree (Scarpa) Coccaro by two days; his sister Sara Rone and his brother, Anthony Scarpa; A memorial service will take place at a later date.
