Obituary of Kathleen Mercurio

Kathleen Mercurio, 76, of Ocean City, formally of Vineland and Punta Gorda, Florida, left us suddenly on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. A long time resident of Vineland and the daughter of the late Chiarina (Santoro) Roagers, she was a 1962 graduate of Sacred Heart High School and graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing in 1965. She went on to marry the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Theodore F Mercurio Sr., on September 18, 1965. Kay was a devoted wife, mother, Nonna, aunt, and friend. Kay was a passionate and highly skilled nurse who was fulfilled by helping mothers deliver their babies. You could often find her, and her witty personality, on the beach in Florida or Ocean City, or at home cooking, crocheting, reading, or playing cards. Kay's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her presence was always recognized and will live on with us forever. She is survived by their four children, Theodore F Mercurio Jr. (Linda), Monica Mercurio-Dawkins (Cedric), Maria Wright (Rufus), and Matthew Mercurio (Carla); ten grandchildren, Theo, Christian, Matteo, Anna, Chiara, Micco, Ignazio, Sofia, Parker, and Frances; her sister-in-law Barbara Sciarretta, brother-in-law Ralph Quickmire, and nieces and nephews too numerous to count and still growing. Kay was predeceased by her husband, Theodore F Mercurio Sr., her mother Chiarina Santoro Roagers, sister Julia Ann Quickmire, and brother-in-law John Sciarretta.
