Eleanor Voltaggio

Obituary of Eleanor Voltaggio

Eleanor L. (Deola) Voltaggio, 97, of Avalon, NJ passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020. She was born on March 6, 1923 in Vineland, NJ to the late John and Catherine (Bridi) Deola. Eleanor was predeceased in 2019 by her beloved husband of 73 years, John. They worked side by side on their farm in East Vineland throughout their entire working lives. Eleanor had a busy life on the farm, packing and delivering produce and, with her great head for numbers, doing all of the bookkeeping for the farm business while raising her family. Eleanor and John worked very hard, but also played hard, often going out for dinner and dancing on Saturday nights with their many friends. Retired from the farm at age 57, John and El started their life as snowbirds, enjoying winters in Sebastian, Florida on their boat, fishing, clamming, crabbing, shrimping on the Indian River and spending summers on the water in Avalon Manor. They enjoyed cross country road trips in their van and many travels abroad. Eleanor had a strong faith in God, praying every day for family, friends, and acquaintances. Having a wonderful gift of gab, she loved conversation and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She loved playing cards and entertaining and was always found in the kitchen preparing many a delicious meal, especially the gifts from the sea. She will be greatly missed but we will always benefit from her example of a life well lived. She is survived by her son, Bill Voltaggio (Nina); daughter, LuAnn Germanio (Nick); granddaughters, Kim Germanio and Kate Lloyd (Bob); great grandchildren, Adriana and Wyatt Tomlin, and Elizabeth and Eleanora Lloyd. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Bertha (Deola) Menzoni.
