Johnny Lilla

Obituary of Johnny Craig Lilla

John C. Lilla, 67, of Vineland passed away peacefully at home Wednesday morning, December 16, 2020. Over the years Johnny became a local legend in the world of heavy-towing and recovery. He began his career with the big trucks right out of high school working in the shop for Horner Mack Trucks of Vineland. Johnny eventually got into the driver's seat of their Mack wrecker and stayed there. Horner got out of the towing business around 1980 so Johnny bought the truck and went out on his own. He drove that truck for the next 18 years putting well over a million miles on it. He replaced it with a much bigger Autocar wrecker that to date has logged over 3 million miles. Johnny had almost as many stories as he had miles behind him. His colorful stories could hold your attention for hours. He was indeed a gifted storyteller. John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Donna (Sigafoos) Lilla; daughter, Jennifer Lilla-Diorio (Michael); grandchildren, Cameron Diorio and Andrew Diorio; brother, Terry Lilla (Diana); his nephews and niece, Justin Lilla (Mary Ann), Christine Armstrong, Brian Armstrong (Amanda) and Neal Armstrong (Amy) and his loving pup, Riley. John was predeceased by his parents, John and Edythe Lilla. Due to COVID-19 restriction everyone must wear a mask and social distance. Interment will take place on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 11:30am in Friendship Cemetery, Landisville.
