Obituary of Gregory Burgess

Gregory Scott Burgess Sr., 55, of Vineland passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 11, 2020. He was born on January 17, 1965 in Cherry Hill, and grew up in Vincentown. Greg graduated from Lenape High School in 1983 and Old Dominion University in 1987. He went on to work on Wall Street, but spent his corporate career in franchise sales and acquisition, mostly with Jackson Hewitt. In 1993 he married Amy Adele Vastano and they raised their 6 children together, Scott, Thomas, Marianne, Robert, Gregory Jr and Kelianne. Greg enjoyed coaching and serving on the Board at East Vineland Little League. You could always count on him to be cheering on his children whether from the sidelines at sporting events, or the audience of recitals, shows and concerts. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Going to countless Sixers and Eagles games with his sons, and singing around the house with his children. He recently took up gardening in his backyard and his family will continue to enjoy his roses, keeping up his garden in his memory. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Amy Burgess (Vastano) and 6 children Scott, Thomas, Marianne, Robert, Gregory Jr and Kelianne; his mother Urshula (Bill) Kilburn; brothers Jimmy Burgess (Sharon), Doug Burgess (Marybeth), Brian Burgess, John Burgess (Michele) and sister Bridget Sawdy (Rob); brother in laws Joe Vastano (Trish), John Vastano (Andi) and Michael Vastano (Andrea); father in law, Joseph Vastano; mother in law Paula Thibodeau-Hirsch; aunts Rita Vastano, Judy Weir, Mary Grace, Doris Mollenhauer and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Jim Burgess Sr and sister Keleen Burgess. Due to COVID-19 restrictions everyone is required to wear a mask and to social distance. A funeral home visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, December 16th from 6pm to 8pm at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 17th at 11:30 am from Christ The Good Shepherd Parish - Church Of Sacred Heart, 1010 East Landis Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
