Obituary of Bernice Kearney

Bernice "Bernie" (Guida) Kearney of Vineland passed peacefully in her sleep early Thursday morning, December 3, 2020. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Bernie was born in Vineland, May 4, 1937, and grew up on a multi-generational farm on Genoa Ave. with her parents, grandparents and many aunts and uncles. As a child she attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1955. As a young housewife and mother, Bernie was a bookkeeper for several family owned businesses in town, but her true passion was cooking. Anyone who was a guest in her home knew she said Welcome and I Love You with food. From homemade pastas and raviolis, to flaming desserts, homemade pies and hand-formed candies, there was always a treat to be had. Holiday meals were feasts of food, planned and prepared for weeks in advance, for all her loved ones that would gather round. Bernice is survived by two daughters Stephanie (Lelli) Guinan and LoriAnn (Lelli) Posner and husband Jon Posner; stepson Jared Kearney; one sister Lois (Guida) Paduano; and four granddaughters Riley Guinan, Alison Guinan, Melisa Posner and Reeseley Kearney. Bernice was predeceased by her parents Joseph Guida and Irene (Periconi) Guida and her husband of 37 years Gerald "Jerry" Kearney. Special family request: In Bernie's memory, please wear a mask, social distance and protect those around you during this holiday season. Due to the current pandemic, a spring-time funeral and a celebration of Bernice's life will be planned and announced at a later date.
