Obituary of Lucy M. Cardana

Lucy Mary (Brignolo) Cardana, 91, passed away peacefully at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home on September 22, 2020. Born on Januray 26, 1929, to the late Lorenzo and Zita Brignolo. She grew up on Florence Ave in Vineland, where she lived her entire life. Lucy graduated from Sacred Heart High School after 12 years of Catholic education and enjoyed planning and attending the school reunions. In 1950, Lucy married the love of her life, Victor “Reno” Cardana. They spent a loving 66 years together before Victor’s passing in  2016. Together, they leave two sons; Steve (Barbara) of Fort Mill, SC and Dave of Vineland. Lucy will be missed by her whole family, including granddaughter, Amanda Tan (Derick)  and grandson, Thomas Walkup. She was blessed to know and love her two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Conner Tan. She will be missed by her sister-in-law, Alice Brignolo; lifelong friend, Mary DePalma and many nieces and nephews. Along with her late husband, Victor, Lucy is predeceased by her loving brothers, Joseph, Mike and Frank Brignolo.

Lucy lived a joyful and content life filled with everything that made her smile. Sunflowers, baking, visits to the farm, keeping a clean home, relaxing in the garage with Victor, feeding the squirrels and caring for her loyal dog, Duke.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland, especially Michelle and the staff on Honor Circle, for the compassion and care they provided Lucy during her stay.

A heartful thank you to Zenia Mears, who we consider a sister, for all the love she has given to us and all that she has done for the Cardana family over the years. She has and always will have a special place in our hearts. Zenia, we love you.

A funeral home visitation will be on Saturday, September 26 from 9am to 10am at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, New Jersey followed by a funeral mass will be held 10:30 am  at Divine Mercy Parish, 23 W. Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland, New Jersey.
