Obituary of Richard Giovinazzi

Richard Giovinazzi, 80, of Minotola passed away at South Jersey Regional Medical Center, Vineland on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. He was born in Vineland to the late Christina (Bononcini) and Augustine A. "Whitey" Giovinazzi; and was a life-long resident of Minotola. He owned and operated Whitey's Amoco on Central Avenue in Minotola until his retirement in 1989. He raced go-carts competitively throughout the tri-state area and won many trophies. His favorite past times were building model airplanes and boats and constructing a model train city in his basement. He especially enjoyed beating his family members playing pinochle and cribbage and loved being outside walking his two dogs, Missy and Katie. His greatest joy was being surrounded by family members especially at the annual Giovinazzi Christmas breakfast. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Giovinazzi; sons Richard (Carla), Barry, Michael (Brandy); daughters Patricia (Stephen) Novakowski, Deborah (Paul) Starkey, Christine (Woodrow) Mugrauer;step-children Angela, Mark and Jeanne Papadopoulos; sister June (Richard) Crowell; sister-in-law Carol; 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brother James. A church visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 am to 11 am at Queen of Angels Parish-Church of St. Michael, 504 West Avenue, Minotola, followed by a funeral mass at 11 am. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
