Obituary of Mary Giglio

Mary L. (Sammartino) Giglio passed away peacefully at South Jersey Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. She was born in Minotola to the late Raymond and Maria Sammartino. Mary was one of eight children. She attended Vineland Public Schools. She worked in a clothing factory for several years and later was employed as a sales clerk at I.C. Schwarzman's Department Store on Landis Avenue. She and her husband loved to travel and visited almost every state. They especially enjoyed their winter trips to Florida. She and her late husband, Andrew, were married for 58 years until his death in April of 1995. Mary was a member of St. Francis Parish from its beginning and belonged to the Ladies of St. Francis for many years. Recently she sang with the St. Francis Troubadours. She was a wonderful Mom Mom and loved to baby-sit with her two grandsons. Mary loved to tell everyone about her 6 great-grandchildren. In 2006 Mary went to live at Bishop McCarthy; and while there she went to mass every day and sang in the choir. She was active in all of the activities, but especially loved to play Bingo. She is survived by her daughter and husband Barbara and Robert Fanucci, Sr.; grandsons Robert and Diane Fanucci, Jr.; David and Lianne Fanucci; great grandchildren, Cecilia, Veronica, Angelena; Isabella, Carly, and David; sisters-in-law Margaret Sammartino, Grace Sammartino, Dinah Nani and Tina Tarquino; and her special family at Bishop McCarthy. Mary was predeceased by her brothers Frank, Raymond, Anthony and Joseph; and sisters Lena, Millie and her twin, Margaret. A church visitation will be held on Thursday, October 21st from 12pm to1 pm followed by a funeral mass at 1 pm from Divine Mercy Parish, 23 West Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will be private.
