Obituary of Francis Galbiati
Francis Galbiati, 86, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at his residence. Born in Vineland, to the late Louis and Mary (Dallago) Galbiati, he was a lifelong resident. He attended Vineland school and is a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy with the CB Pontoon Assault Battalion. He developoed "Arborama Creative Landscaping". Francis opened and operated Eastlyn Golf Course in April 1963 until it's sale in 1984. The 18 hole par 3 executive course was designed and built in two stages by Francis, whose vision for his vast collection of plants, trees and shrubs turned 119 acres of swampland into a rich haven for wildlife, 60 acres of which are devoted to highly manicured greens and fairways. After retiring, he developed water gardens and ponds throughtout East Vinelandincluding the pond at Our Lady of Pompeii Church. Francis was amember of St. Padre Pio Parish, the St. Joseph Society, New Italy American Society, and the Harmony Gun Club. He spent many happy hours doing creative woodworking. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
