Obituary of Alfred A. Francesconi

Alfred A. Francesconi 94 of St. Augustine, Fl. Passed away Saturday March 21, 2009 in the Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine FL. Born in Trasserra, Bologna Italy on April 30, 1914, to the late Angelo and Ida Anna (Friedrick) Francesconi, later coming to Vineland on October 13, 1920, and co-founded City Iron Works, Inc. in 1939, with his late brother Rinaldo Francesconi and later retired to Florida in 1978. Alfred was an avid fisherman and amateur wildlife photographer with many of his photos appearing in National Geographic magazine. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Peggy (Whitmore) Francesconi of St. Augustine, FL, a son George and his wife Wendy Melini of Vineland, Nephew James and his wife Rose Francesconi of Vineland, a niece Irene and her husband Lee Newcomb of Millville and many great nephews and nieces Graveside services and Burial will be held Tuesday at 3:00 pm in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garden mausoleum chapel 741 East Walnut Road, Vineland.
