Obituary of Norbert Fleischer

Norbert Fleischer, 88, of Vineland, N.J., passed away peacefully at the South Jersey Regional Medical Center, at 11 am on Monday, Aug. 27th, 2012. Norbert was born in Vienna, Austria on Aug. 16th, 1924 and was raised in Vienna until World War II forced him to leave Europe and eventually land in Venezuela in 1941. In Caracas, Venezuela he met and married his beautiful wife, Inge Fleischer. They were married on June 3rd, 1949 and remained married for 53 years. Inge Fleischer died in 2002. From 1941 to 1952, Norbert worked as a dental technician in Caracas, Venezuela and then moved with his family to New York in August of 1953. In 1954, he along with his wife, two children, his mother, and his father moved to a chicken farm in Vineland, N.J. The chicken farm functioned as a working business for 12 years, owned and operated by the Fleischer family. Eventually, changes in the egg farming industry led Norbert to seek other entrepreneurial activity. He began the business named B & S Stamp Vending, a stamp vending machine business, in 1966, which he owned and operated for about 25 years. Norbert loved music and would play classical piano music for a hobby. He was a great dancer, enjoyed playing soccer with his children in the front yard, loved watching his boys play baseball, loved good food, and most importantly was a dedicated father and husband. Norbert was also dedicated to his synagogue and the Beth Israel congregation for over 50 years and provided yearly donations to the Jewish Federation of Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties. Norbert is survived by his two sons, Michael Fleischer, Steven Fleischer and his wife Sheila Fleischer, two daughters, Jeanette and her husband David Seidel , Ettel Fleischer Green and her husband Marion Green and five grandchildren, Rachel Fleischer, Kyle Fleischer, Jonathan Seidel, Sebastain Fleischer, and Sequoia Fleischer Green.
