Obituary of Arthur J. Ferrari

Arthur J. Ferrari, Sr., 89, died Monday, November 29, 2010, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Born in New Italy he was the youngest child of the late Dionisio and Matilda Ferrari. He grew up on the farm where his life long fascination with things mechanical began. Prior to World War II, he worked as a plumber. From 1942 to 1944 he was a basic training flight instructor for the US Army Air Corps. In 1944, he joined the Cadet Corps and graduated in 1945 as a 2nd Lieutenant and P-47 Fighter Pilot. After the war he worked as a farmer, mechanic and plumber as he raised his family. His love of flying never faded and he owned and flew his own airplane until his illness. In his later years he enjoyed gardening, cooking and playing cards with friends and family. He was a member of the New Italy American Society and an original member of the St. Francis of Assisi parish. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Anna (Danna) Ferrari; two sons. Arthur and wife Susan and Gary and wife Cindy; two granddaughters Christy and Cathy, four grandsons, Arthur, John, Domenic and Philip and four great-granddaughters, Arden, Addasyn, Payton and Landyn. Funeral home visitations will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 6 to 9 pm and on Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 9 to 10 am at Rone Funeral Service. A funeral mass will follow at 10:30 am at St. Padre Pio Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 4680 Dante Avenue, Vineland. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum.
