Obituary of Veronica Donini

Vera Donini 95 of Landisville passed away Saturday November 14, 2009 in the Heritage Assisted Living facility in Hammonton. Born in Brooklyn to the late George and Marion (Mears) Langer before moving to Richland in 1923 then to Landisville in 1943 after her marrage to husband the late Mayor of Landisville William Donini where she remained a long time resident. Vera's 56 year working career began as the head cook for the Buena Regional School District in the Richland School starting in 1938 and then being transfered in 1979 to the Buena High School where she supervised as head cook and remained until her retirement in 1994 at the age of 79. Former students still ask for her recipes for her apple crisp, and her famous sloppy joes. An avid golfer in younger years Vera's passion was for bowling, enjoying her part time job at the Delsea Lanes bowling alley, she was an accomplished bowler earning countless patches and trophies, and maintained a 185 bowling average by throwing a mean hook with a 16 lb. fingertip ball. Vera was a life member of the Tri-County womens bowling league serving as president from 1982 to 1993, and later elected as a life time member. Sher traveled to every national convention in cities all across the US. Well known as Aunt Vera, to all in the community. Vera loved children and became attached to many, stating many times "Thats what keeps me going".
