So sad to hear this news. I haven't seen Dan since we graduated high school, but always thought so highly of him; he was such a gentle giant. My sincere condolences go out to his entire family. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I worked with Dan at Southern State. He was a great supervisor and person. He had a good sense of humor, he was someone you could count on to help you out. he will truly be missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with his wife and family. Sincerely, Harold and Kathy Garrison

Dan, Wow...They broke the mold after you. I worked with Dan at Southern State. I was brand new, and Dan treated me with respect. What a great guy to work for. Dan was a "great" supervisor. One time he was locking up a special needs I/M in the Academic Bldg. The inmate punched Dan with all his might in the abdomen. Dan didn't move an inch... the inmate stood back petrified, looked at Dan and started to cry. Dan told the officer to cuff him and lock him up. That's how Dan was. He could handle anything with confidence. He made everything look easy, until you tried to do it yourself. Along with Dan, a lot of good supervisors and officers have retired. I will always be greatful for being taught the "right" way of doing my job. I was happy when Dan retired, but missed him when times got tough. He was there watching over us. After a code, he would always asked if everyone was okay.
