Obituary of Sebastiano "Ben" Dellagatta

Sebastiano "Ben" Dellagatta, 87, was born in New York City and was a life long resident of Mizpah, NJ. He attended the Hamilton Twp schools. Ben took courses in radio servicing & opened the Mizpah Radio Shop part time. He was the co-founder & last charter member of the Mizpah Volunteer Fire Company. he served as assistant Fire Chief for 5 yrs & as treasurer for 40 yrs. In 1969, he was awarded "Fireman Of The Year". Ben was a past member of the Knights Of Columbus Councel 3451 fo Mays Landing, NJ. He was very active in St John's Catholic Church, serving as VP of the Holy Name Society. He volunteered doing maintenance on the building & grounds. He was also chairman of the fund raising functions. Ben wasretired army veteran of WWII serving in the 85th Infantry Division in the European Theater. He received the Good Conduct Ribbon, European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon & the Combat Infantry Badge. Ben was a charter & life member the the VFW post 158. On July 28, 1955, Ben was nominated by President Eisenhower with advice & consent of the Senate to the job as Postmaster of Mizpah, NJ 08347 Post Office. Ben gave 32 Yrs of dedicated service as Postmaster in Mizpah. He served on the advisory board at the SJ sectional center. Ben was a past member of the National Association of Postmasters, both local & national chapters. He was a charter member of the Cape Atlantic Postmasters
