Sandy, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. In recent years Bob has been on my mind a lot. We went through so much together - South Vineland (elementary) School, VHS, classes at CCC and Glassboro State, student teaching at Bridgeton High School, teaching jobs at the Vineland High Schools, and grad school at Glassboro. We coordinated classes/schedules there so we could carpool. Years later my children and I saw him at the skating rink at Carlls Corner; it was great to see him again. I consider myself his best friend, and am honored to do so. I'm sure he was a wonderful teacher who touched many lives, but beyond that, I know he was a wonderful husband and father, and this world is a better place because you shared him with us all. Much love, Anthony

Our sincere condolences to the Platoni family as you say goodbye to a wonderful person.
Although we have never met, we felt compelled to convey our family’s appreciation of Mr. Platoni and to say that he touched the lives of many whom you will probably never get to meet in person.
Our daughter, Christina, attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and entered Vineland High School as a freshman. She was fortunate enough to be in Mr. Platoni’s Honors Geometry class that freshman year. Although Christina was an A-Student at Sacred Heart, Mr. Platoni immediately noticed that she was struggling in his class and found that she had some gaps in her fundamental math knowledge. Mr. Platoni helped Christina fill in those gaps so that she was able to excel in his class that year, the following year in his Honors Algebra 2 class, as well as in all her subsequent math courses. She even graduated as valedictorian of Vineland High School in 2004.
At Florida International University, Christina showed her appreciation of Mr. Platoni’s help by paying it forward. She joined the tutoring team at FIU as one of the few who was able to tutor in all of the math courses. She was successful in helping bring many of her fellow students, who were struggling or failing in math, up to speed.
Christina is now a doctor of pharmacy in Miami, Florida. We had the sad task of informing her that Mr. Platoni, whom she greatly admired, has passed.
The reason why we are telling you all this is to let you know that there must be a very long list of students like Christina who were helped by Mr. Platoni. He was a special educator who cared about the students and was able to make a difference in their lives.
Although we did not know him in his personal life, he seemed like a gentle soul and we have no doubt that he willingly shared all of his gifts and talents with his family, friends, acquaintances, and community.
It is our hope that this note gives you some comfort, knowing there are many people, even those whom you never met, whose lives were improved because of Mr. Platoni, and who feel saddened by his passing. May he rest in peace, and may you hold many fond memories of him forever in your hearts.
Sincerely,
Mr.and Mrs.Fredrick and Mercedes Crum
