Obituary of Louis V. Curcio

Louis V. Curcio, 97, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Newfied and was the son of the late Rose (Zito) and Vincent Curcio. Louis served in the United States Army during World War II. In 1941 he received basic training at Fort Dix and served as an ambulance driver and medic in California, Washington and Virginia . He was stationed at Teshima Base near Toyko, Japan and served with the 935th Aviation Engineers on Okinawa. Upon his Honorable discharge from the Army in 1946 he had earned the American Defense Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Louis worked as a truck driver delivering fuel for Moore Fuels of Newfield for many years.
