I met Mr Lukens and his family on a Summer vacation in North Myrtle Beach many years ago, being a big O’s fan I had an Orioles shirt on and Jeff struck up a conversation with me and the following day as I was walking into elevator I met his daughter Jessica. It was one of those Summer vacations you never want to end. I was sad this popped up on my phone out of the blue. From the very brief time I knew Jeff, he and his family were very nice. I hope you’re on a beach with a golf course near by. RIP

Peggy and I worked for Jeff and his family when they owned the portable restroom business. We can honestly say it was the best job ever! They were wonderful to work for and made it fun. Jeff always had a joke to tell and a smile on his face. Often he would have pumpkin muffins (our favorite) from Yai Yai Bakery ready and waiting for his "work wives" at the office. Many times during lunch Jeff and Peggy would have a sing along (of course in tune) to one of his favorite songs, "Paradise by the Dashboard Light". We have a lot of good memories and could not wait to get to work. Not many people can say that about an employer. Thank you Jeff and the Lukens family.
Our deepest sympathy,
Kathy and Peggy

I met Jeff about 9 years ago when I lived across the street from Ace Hardware in Stone Harbor. Jeff was working there at the time. We rode bikes around one day and started talking about our families - it turns out my father built his family's Stone Harbor home and my dad and step-mother were quite close to Jeff's folks! We were both so surprised that we had that connection. I have talked to Jeff almost monthly - yes, he always called to ask how my life was, "what have you been up to, Jeanie?". I could hear some frustration in his voice last month (which I could totally understand as he had told me he was now confined to a wheelchair, it was hard to get around, his vision was very compromised).
He LOVED his co-workers at Ace and spoke of wanting to work there again. Although I only knew Jeff for a few years he impressed me so much with his authenticity, kindness - a true gentleman as has been mentioned. I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad/brother, although I truly feel he is in a much better place. I hope that your memories and love will sustain you as you go forward. Jean Fitzpatrick

Jeff and I met at Macy’s when he had a cleaning business at the White Marsh location. I worked in cosmetics and he was friends with everyone in that department. What a great, genuine guy, I hadn’t spoken to him since his daughters were very young, probably high school age or younger. We have truly lost a one of a kind gentleman. My sincere condolences to his family.

To Jeff's family,
I am not sure I can properly express how sad I was to learn of Luke's passing. I met him over 30 years ago while playing volleyball on 106th street. In all that time, I would best describe him as a kind and gentle person. He was a good volleyball player, so it has been difficult for all of us to witness his health issues over the last years.
However, I would totally agree with the words in his obituary. Whether we talked on the phone or in person, his first words would always be "how are you" or "what are you up to" or "where are you". When pressed about his own health, it was always "I'm doing OK".
I know Luke will be missed and fondly remembered with stories by all of us who knew him from 106th street as a friend.

Jeff was a high school classmate. I remember him as very kind to all.
He reconnected when he came down for the memorial of Coach Yates at our H S Sept. 2009. He met up with a group of us that attended. He told me when he was moving to NJ with his folks and I was very happy for him. I am sorry we lost touch and I didnt know he was ill. We are holding our 50th reunion this Sept. Be assured Jeff will be remembered fondly. My sympathies to his family.
