Obituary of Frank Anthony Lajonchere

Frank Anthony Lajonchere, 85, of Miami, Florida passed away March 13, 2019 in Aventura, FL. An only child, Frank was born in Cienfuegos, Cuba on May 27, 1933 to Clara Luz Diaz Jiacomino and Francisco "Paco" Lajonchere, a Frenchman who was raised in Cuba. He came to the United States when he was 3 months old and was raised in Vineland, New Jersey. He attended Monmouth College and Stevens Institute of Technology where he received a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Computer Science, respectively. Frank is a veteran of the US Marine Corp and served as a Sargent during the Korean War. He taught courses on electronics and electrical engineering. Frank had a wry sense of humor and a quick wit. He was passionate about food, cars and family. An avid reader of historical fiction, Frank would spend his days in the company of a good book. Frank is survived by his wife, María Elisa Uribasterra Lajonchere, 83, of Caibarien, Cuba, his daughters Dr. Clara Lajonchere, 49, of Los Ángeles, CA and Elisa Uribasterra Lajonchere-Kirchhoff, 44, of Ridgewood, NJ, his son-in-law, Dr. Hendrik Kirchhoff, of Ridgewood, New Jersey and his two beautiful grandchildren, Moritz and Caterina Kirchhoff-Lajonchere who always made him laugh and smile. Frank was an extremely honorable and gentle man who at the end of his life always had a big smile for all who loved and cared for him. He will live on in our hearts.
