Obituary of Dorothy Cocca
Dorothy Theresa Cocca of Buena quietly passed on in the early hours of July 19, 2018. Born in
Manhattan to John and Mary Steinheimer on July 15, 1927, she was one of eight children. She
married Pellegrino “Bill” Cocca in 1950, and together they moved to South Plainfield, NJ, to
raise their family. After retiring they settled in Holiday City South in Toms River where, along
with her husband, she was well known and active in the community, serving as president of the
Women’s Club, leading Bingo, bowling, and enjoying the casinos in Atlantic City, among various
other activities. Dorothy spent the last five years living with her loving older son and his wife.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband in 2004. She leaves behind her son Nicholas and
his wife Carol, her son Robert and his wife Karen; Grandchildren Kimberly Porter (Brenton),
Alicia Cocca (Mike Artz), Nicholas P. Cocca (Samantha), and Jared Cocca (Ashle); Great
grandchildren Liam and Jameson Porter; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A church visitation will be held at St. Michael’s Church of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament
Parish, 504 S. West Avenue in Minotola, on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, from 9:30 to 10:45 am,
followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am. Interment will be private.
Arrangements are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E. Chestnut Avenue,
Vineland NJ 08360. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to (Please add the name
and address for the Alzheimer’s research charity that Mike mentioned to us.)
