Obituary of Mayer Kanner

Mayer Kanner of Palm Beach, Fl, passed away on Jan 29. .He married Ella Kreminitzer and they had three children, Steve, Allan and Linda, all married and there are wonderful grandchildren Ellen, Andrea, Ally, Mia , Ben, Max & Eli and great grands David, Gabi, Ezra & Hila plus wonderful in-laws. Sad to say uncle Mayer passed away this morning. Mayer was the first of the siblings to come to America. He stayed with family while he acclimated to his new homeland. When the war started he was a young teen and managed to survive the war in hiding, in the forests of Poland near his home . Once in America, he went to school and learned English in order to prepare for Naturalization. He met his wife Ella, and they moved to south jersey onto a chicken farm like so many others. Mayer also worked In the "markets" and ultimately went into business with his brother Isak at Kanner Brothers Pillow Manufacturing. The pillows were a vibrant business until retirement, After retirement, Mayer retuned to school to learn about computers. Mayer and family lived in Vineland until this past year and about 20 years ago started spending winters in southern Florida. He loved visits from family and the beautiful weather in Florida which allowed him to swim regularly. He was involved in many organizations with his favorite being the support of his Synogogue Agudath Achim followed by Sons of Jacob. Visitation will be held on Wed Jan 31 from 1pm to 2pm followed by the service at 2pm at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360.
