Obituary of Robert Cooney

Robert Cooney, 59, of Millville passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Atlanticare Medical Center in Atlantic City. He was born in Bridgeton to Veronica (Boch) Cooney of Bridgeton and the late Robert Cooney. Robert graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1969. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. and served during the Vietnam War in Thailand where he repaired jets and helicopters engines. He received an Honorable Discharge with the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He also served as a Marine Reservist for ten years. After the military service he was employed as a maintenance mechanic for Ball-Foster Glass Manufacturing in Millville for over 30 years. He was presently employed at Aunt Kitty's Food Processors in Vineland. Robert was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 137 in Millville and a member of the Glass Bottle Blowers Union. He enjoyed gardening, working in the yard and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Frances (Mottola) Cooney and son, Keith T. and his wife Liz Cooney and their children Isabella and Ethan Cooney; son Ken J. and his wife Amy and their daughter Kendall Cooney; sister Sheila and her husband Daniel McNaul, all of Vineland. Robert was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Mary Mottola. A funeral home visitation will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Rone Funeral Service followed by a Memorial Service to be held at 11:00 am.
