Obituary of Anna Marie Codario

Anna Marie Codario Anna Marie Codario, 80, of Landisville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2017. Anna Marie was born in Landisville to the late Thomas and Lucy (Camarano) DeFelice. She was a graduate of Vineland High School Class of 1954 and New Jersey State Teachers College at Glassboro (now Rowan University) in 1958. She began her career teaching math at Hammonton High School where she also directed plays and musicals. She then continued her passionate teaching of math at Buena Regional High School. Anna Marie touched the lives of many in her 45 year career and was nominated for Who's Who Among America's Teachers numerous times. Her favorite line was "Learn what you are supposed to learn, when you are supposed to learn it". She was a dynamic individual who enjoyed politics. She served as the Atlantic County Democratic Chairperson from 1976 to 1980. She cherished meeting many senior ranking officials on both the state and national level, including President Jimmy Carter. Anna Marie was nominated for Who's Who Among Women in Politics, and was also the first woman to serve on the New Jersey Real Estate Commission. In 1990, she became interested in breeding and showing Arabian horses. She created Ro-Ann stables on the same land her father and grandfather settled in Landisville in the early 20th century. Among many of her positive qualities was her steadfast resolve. Up until her recent illness, she would consistently be in the stables at 4:45 AM. Her quest for excellence led her horses to win countless state, regional and national awards. Anna Marie had a strong devotion to St. Padre Pio, and attended his canonization in Vatican City, Italy in 2002. Besides her parents, she is pre-deceased by her brothers Frank and Angelo DeFelice, and sisters Francis Mascolo, Angelina Pustizzi, and Maisie Bocelli. She is survived by her sister Elena Lombardo, and many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her dear friend Ron LeFevre, and many friends including fellow teachers and members of the Arabian horse community. A funeral liturgy will held on Monday, August 28th at 11 AM at Queen of Angels Parish - Our Lady of Victories Church, 202 Northwest Blvd, Landisville, NJ. Family and friends are invited to gather before the Mass at the church beginning at 10 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Padre Pio Shrine, P.O. Box 203, Harding Highway, Landisville, N.J., 08326 or the Anna Marie Codario Math Scholarship Fund, 600 G Street, Millville, NJ 08332.
