Obituary of Rose D'Ottavio

Rose (DeMatte) D'Ottavio, 88, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2016. She was born on July 26, 1928 in East Vineland to David and Josephine (Frasnelli) DeMatte. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Robert D'Ottavio. She was also predeceased by her three sisters, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her brother, David DeMatte, Jr. and his wife Rose Ellen, sister-in-law, Mildred D'Ottavio, two daughters, Susan D'Ottavio and Jean (D'Ottavio) Christmann and her husband, Glenn. She is survived by her granddaughter, Maria and a grandson, Adam and his wife, Anna, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She lived until she was eighteen years old in East Vineland on a farm. Her family moved to the city of Vineland and opened up a family store called DeMatte's on Grape Street. Rose helped to operate the store until it closed. During World War II she worked at Gove's making thermometers. She was licensed a hairdresser and worked at Prudential for 17 years. She was an avid cook and baker. Many people looked forward to her homemade cookie trays every Christmas and her family looked forward to her homemade gravy and raviolis every holiday and birthday. She loved to spend time with her family and friends.
