Obituary of Attilena Pepper

Attilena Pepper of Vineland, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. Attilena was one of Vineland's oldest residents at age 107. The focus of Attilena's life was her love and care for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Attilena was a woman of great faith and prayed the rosary numerous times every day. She loved to read, take long walks and cook for her family every holiday. Attilena loved life and was mentally alert until her passing. Attilena spent her summers in Sea Isle City, NJ and enjoyed winters on Sanibel Island, Florida. Upon her one hundredth birthday, she was recognized by the City of Vineland for her support and work alongside her husband, Lawrence and his brother, John, as co-founders of the Venice Maid Company, which grew over the years to become one of Vineland's largest employers. Attilena is survived by her son, Lawrence Pepper, Jr. (Lynn) and by her grandchildren, Carleen Greco (Robert), Alfred DiPaola, Lawrence Pepper, III (Kimberly), Christa Toner (Michael) and Lori Lynn King (Curtis). Attilena is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Attilena was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Pepper, Sr., her daughter, Doris DiPaola and her husband Alfred DiPaola, her granddaughter, Angela DiPaola, and her sisters, Ida Giannetti and Mary Van Deusen. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Noon at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish-Sacred Heart Church, 1010 E. Landis Avenue, Vineland, NJ. Family and friends will be received on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Preparatory School, the Inspira Health Foundation, or Christ the Good Shepherd Parish.
