Obituary of Gregorio M Garcia

Gregorio Garcia, 84, of Vineland, passed away peacefully at Inspira Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Barruecopardo (Province of Salamanca), Spain to Maria del Soccoro and Ricardo Garcia Sanchez on December 10, 1931 the oldest of 5 children. Gregorio studied Theology and Philosophy at the University of Salamanca and held a Ph.D. in Psychology. He was a nationally certified school psychologist who dedicated his life to serving others. He moved to the United States from Spain in 1969 and lived in Rochester, NY then Washington D.C. where he was actively involved with Spanish speaking community programs. In 1974 he moved to Minetola, NJ then settled in Vineland in 1978 where he worked as a bilingual school psychologist for the Vineland Board of Education for 25 years. After "retiring", he started a private practice, Bilingual Educational Consultants, where he continued to provide psychological services to various school districts throughout New Jersey for many years. He worked until his 84th birthday in December 2015. Gregorio is survived by his wife Anna Garcia, daughter Christina Garcia Littlewood, step-daughter Paula Elissetche Shreve, step-son Marcelo Elissetche; son-in-law Brian Littlewood, grandchildren Luke and Alyssa Littlewood and Rachel Mensing as well as his brother and sisters and many nieces and nephews. Gregorio was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed music, travelling, making people laugh and spending time with his family. He was kind, generous and well respected by all who knew him. A church visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 15th from 9:00am to 11:15am followed by a funeral mass at 11am at Christ the Good Shepard Church 1655 Magnolia Rd, Vineland, NJ. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Arrangements are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360.
