Aunt Anne and the entire Scarpa Family,
My sincere condolences to you all in the loss of Uncle Tony. He was a good family man, true friend, and good fisherman. I still have pictures of him, Art D'Ottavio and my son Vinnie with big strippers. Vinnie speaks of the fishing trips with fond memories. May he Rest In Peace. God be with you all.

Anne and the Scarpa Family
Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Tony. He was a fine gentleman, a great fisherman and a good friend. I did not meet Tony until perhaps 10 years ago. I often fished with him on Bill Dickinson's boat along with several common friends. The trips were always a good time. I can still hear his words to me, "Snyder if you don't turn the handle of that reel, that fish is never going to get any closer to the boat." Even when we did not fish together, we sometimes kept in touch and shared stories. I join with all his fishing friends in saying that Tony will be missed.
In sympathy and friendship,
Jim Snyder

We first met Tony and Anne when Katherine and I were newlyweds. That was 1974, and we had no children. Between 1974 and 1984 we were next-door neighbors, and all four of our kids were born, They loved all of our kids as though they were their own. The Cooper family was outsiders to this Italian neighborhood on Oak Road, but they made us feel like insiders. They invited us for lunch, dinner, and for their parties. Tony and I sat under the shade trees in his backyard. Sometimes we talked church and spiritual stuff, but mostly we just talked about family, fishing and neighborly stuff.
Then there was Anthony's cancer, and we went much deeper. Their love for us and ours for them has continued to grow and mature since those early days in the 1970s. What has remained constant is our friendship, love, and respect. Their door was always open, and we always felt like we were family.
Tony's passing is a loss for the entire Vineland community, plus for the Cooper family, especially for me. In many ways, he was like a father figure to me. His love was unconditional. His love and commitment for his own family is a love and commitment that should be duplicated by all men. Especially these last few years, his devotion to Anne has been legendary. We grieve, but not as those who have no hope.

We first met Tony and Anne when we moved in next door to them in 1974. We were newly weds. They were there with us for the birth of all four of her children, and they loved our kids, treating our children like they were family. They were the most wonderful neighbors any person could ask for. I sat under the shade trees with him in his backyard on countless nights. We were outsiders to that Italian neighborhood, but they made us feel like insiders.
When we moved away from Vineland in 1984, our friendship continued. They treated us to lunch, dinner, and invited us to their parties. Most recently I visited Tony and Ann in their home in December, and when Tony was in the hospital last week I was able to pray with him and Donna and to share scripture. Katherine and I walked with them through the ups and downs of life.
Tony's loss is a loss for all of Vineland, for the entire Scarpa family, and for Dan and Katherine Cooper. Thank you for loving me and my family Tony Scarpa! We grieve, but not as those who have no hope!

My sincere condolences to Antoinette and the entire Scarpa family.
I was so sorry to hear about Tony's passing. He and I became great friends after re-habing for months at the Newcomb re-hab center, after our heart surgeries.
Tony and I made it fun rather then a chore--when we came in the center, the staff would say--"here comes trouble."
I'm sorry I didn't get to spend more time with Tony--as the old saying goes-"we have to get together more often"--and--we never do and then it's too late.
Rest in Peace my dear friend, I know you will be sadly missed by all who knew you.

I was making a special effort to contact the family of Anthony to send my condolences, and to bring you some comfort from the scriptures which I found to be consoling with a wonderful hope for the future. Notice what it says in John 5:28, 29, "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out..." Also, Revelation 21:4 says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." So this is very encouraging what God promises for the future, and in God's appointed time we will see the reality. Again, my condolences for your loss. Please visit the jw.org website for answers to many Bible questions.

My sincere condolences to the Scarpa family. Tony was a wonderful and caring man and I was honored to have him as my cousin. I especially enjoyed working with him recently to trace his family ancestry.
