Obituary
Obituary of Albert Oddi
We celebrate the life of Albert Oddi, who left us on Christmas Morning at the age of 97. Al has many loved ones that will truly miss his caring, generous, regimented personality. He leaves behind his sister Vilma (103 years old), wife Elizabeth, daughters Melinda, Tisa, and Kathleen, sons Hal, Eric, Dan, Mark, and Tony, 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and nephew Dennis.
Albert lived his life his way, and left it on his terms. He was a stubborn man and refused death until he was at home, in his Leisure Village community in Camarillo, CA. He had few passions in life besides family, but he excelled in those things he enjoyed, poker and crosswords. He taught those around him of generosity, love, and determination. Although he was stubborn, he was kind and thoughtful. He served admirably in the Army in World War II, talked often of his being signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers, and many family stories chock full of valuable anecdotes. We have lost a bright star on earth, but heaven has gained one.
Tecumseh said, "When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home." Big Al, we love you and miss you, but it's your time to go home!
