Obituary of Anthony DiOrio
Anthony Francis DiOrio, 94, of Vineland, passed away on December 28, 3015 at The Lincoln Specialty Center in Vineland following a brief illness. Anthony or "Spike" as he was known by many, worked as a Crew Foreman for the Cumberland County Roads Department prior to his retirement in 1983. he was a US Army veteran, having served in the European Theater of Operation during WWII in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe from September 1944 until December 1945 before being honorablydischarged. Anthony served in the 490th Armored Field Artillery Batallion under PAtton's 3rd Army and was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. He received many decorations and citations for his combat duty including the American Theater Ribbon, the European-Africian- Middle Eastern Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the Meritorious Unit Award, the Victory Medal and the Purple Heart Medal.
