Obituary of Michael A. Lopergolo Jr.

Michael Anthony Lopergolo, Jr., 78, passed away on Monday December 7, 2015, in Philadelphia. Son of Michael Sr. and Millie (Dauito) Lopergolo, he was born in Philadelphia and eventually moved to Vineland where he attended Sacred Heart High School and was an active member of the New Jersey National Guard in the late 50's and early 60's. Known as "Turf" after starting his North Vineland-based company, Turf Construction Company, Inc., in 1964, Mike was also known for his love of food and cooking. He was a model railroader and train enthusiast and was proud of his 1966 Ford Pick-up, which was part of his original company truck fleet that he tirelessly restored. Cherished husband and father, he leaves behind his wife, Donna (Errickson) Lopergolo of 46 years and six children: Terry (Bob) Carpenter, Michael A. Lopergolo, III, Lisa (Luigi) Tramontana, Anita (John) Bertonazzi, Brian (Cristy) Lopergolo and Gregory (Andrea) Lopergolo. Grandchildren include Douglas and Carli Cherwien, John and Abigail Bertonazzi, Robert and Grace Carpenter, Lauren and Hailey Lopergolo, Morgan and Dominic Lopergolo, Nicholas and Tyler Lopergolo and great grandson Gage Lopergolo. He is also survived by his two sisters Marie Martini, Loretta Pannullo and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents as well as his brother, Frank Lopergolo, sister, Dolores Lopergolo and granddaughter Kelsey Carpenter. A mass of Christian burial will be held 11:30am Friday, December 11, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Newfield with visitation to be held at Rone Funeral Home on Thursday, December 10, from 6 to 8pm and again on Friday from 9 to 10:30 am at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rone Funeral Home.
