Obituary of Ramon Chanza-Velez

Ramon Chanza-Velez, 80, of Vineland passed away February 24, 2009 at his home after an extended illness, with his wife and family at his side. Born in Lares, Puerto Rico to the late Ramon and Patricia Chanza, he moved to Florida in 1957, and then to Vineland in 1968 where he worked as a farm laborer for many years before retiring in 1979. He enjoyued music, gardening, fishing and at Greenwich Lake, riding his trike around town, and playing dominoes and socializing with friends at the Community Medical Daycare Center. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia (Borrero) Chanza, five sons, Jose and wife Maria , Efrain, Andy and wife Awilda, Antonio girlfriend Katy Ocasio, Luis and girl friend Teresa Prez; three daughters Maria and Husband Jesus Burgos, Luz and husband Jose Aponte, Blanca Hall and companion Dom Gallo; all of Vineland, and brother Eladio of Puerto Rico and sister Ana Maria of Poughkeepsie, New York; 23 grandchildren, Efrain Jr., Christopher, Angelica, Tony Jr., Priscilla, Josh, Taneisha, Johnathan, Mindy, Cindy, and Andy Jr. Chanza, Nathanael, Rebecca, and Jessica Burgos, Lisa rowand, Liny Colon, Letty Fernandez, Patry Cardona, Arielle, Desiree and Cristian Aponte, Joey Ang and Lance (Mono) Hall, as well as 14 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Angel, Raul, Iripoprdo, and Ernesto; and sister Carmen Maria; and daughters Santa Virginia, and Sherry.
