Obituary of Cathryn Asselta

Cathryn C. (Pasquale) Asselta, 94, of Vineland, was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Inspira Medical Center. Loving wife of the late Carl Asselta, Cathryn was born on October 19, 1920 in Vineland to Nicholas Pasquale of Vineland and Anna Shaw of Bridgeton. A lifelong resident of Vineland, Cathryn worked as manager of Belle Hosiery Shop, Secretary to Arthur Joseph, Esq., and Bookkeeper at both Old Tradesmen's Bank and Building Supplies, Inc. Cathryn was a proud and loyal member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Vineland which was founded and built by her grandfather, Nicholas D. Pasquale in 1904. She was a Trustee of Memorial Presbyterian Church and served as President and Secretary of The Women's Club as well as President of The Young People's Association, and Treasurer of the Sunday School. An enthusiastic Vinelander, Cathryn served on The Vineland Election Board for 15 years, and as Co-Chairman of The Cancer Crusade. She was president of Centerton Country Club Women's Golf Association and was active in the Cub Scouts. Cathryn's most precious role was that of being a loving and devoted Mother to her three sons. Cathryn became a Gold Star Mother when her first-born son, Charles "Chickie", was killed in action in Vietnam on March 18th, 1968 at age 21. Cathryn loved her family deeply and was very proud of her long and rich family history in Vineland/Bridgeton/ Greenwich area. She is survived by her sons Nicholas and his wife Nancy; Carl Jr. and his wife Debi and her grandson, Gregg Lillie A Funeral Home Visitation will be held on Monday from 9am to 11am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
