I am very sorry to hear of Chalky's passing. I knew him primarily through golfing with him at Buena Vista. However, as fellow educators, we shared many thoughts on the status of education throughout the state and country. Chalky was passionate about helping children and dedicated his career to doing whatever he could to see that they got the best education possible. I considered him my friend and he will be missed.

Many fond memories of "Chalky" throughout ours years at Sacred Heart High. Also, a very good friend of my brother-Jeff who died several months ago. Chalky spoke at Jeff's funeral. We were so pleased that he agreed to do so. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you during this difficult time. His loss will be felt by many who knew him. A truly great person.
I wish him peace and hopefully he will be with Jeff--I need to believe that is possible. Sincerely, Andrea Piccone

Dear Karen & Family,
Vineland has lost a true hero. As one of Chalky's assistant principals, I witnessed so many acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion that Chalky displayed to his students, staff, and parents. So many times after proms he would question students about their after prom plans and hand out money to "go get something to eat" in the hopes that they would be safe and out of trouble. I once witnessed Chalky reaching for his checkbook to write a mother a check for insurance so her daughter could go on the trip to Spain with her fellow classmates. Certainly volumes can be written documenting the many acts of kindnesses Chalky bestowed on Vineland's youth. He was an inspiration to us all at VHS and a true educator of educators. We are so saddened by your loss. May God give you peace knowing he is with the Lord.
Sincerely,
Annette & Jim Rudd

Dear Karen and family,
My deepest sympathies on Chalky's passing. These last few years have been tough on all of you but somehow you had the strength to carry on. Chalky was amazing in his courageous battle. He certainly taught us all about a positive attitude even facing his difficult situation.
I am so glad I got to spend some time with Chalky a few months ago. Believe it or not he was an inspiration in his positive outlook.
Unfortunately, I am out of town and will not be able to pay my respects in person but know that you and the family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Chalky's memory will live on in the countless people he touched and mentored. He left the world a much better better place.
God Bless

We have known Chalky since his coaching days at St Joseph High School. He loved his students and players and in return they loved him. He made such an impact on his players with the life lessons he taught them everyday. We knew him as a man who always gave and never took. He was a good and loyal friend who always cared for others. We will miss him dearly and most of all, never forget him.

Chalky helped me to obtain the position I now hold at Vineland Public Schools, Security Director.I will always be greatful and never forget our relationship.
