Obituary of Evelyn Cecola

George Cecola, 93 Evelyn (Rigo) Cecola, 91 Owned the Fireside Tavern George Cecola, 93 and his wife, Evelyn (Rigo) Cecola, 91, from the Milmay section of Buena Vista Township have passed away. George died one year ago today on Monday, February 5, 2007 and Evelyn died on Wednesday, January 9, 2008. They were married for 61 years. George and Evelyn were longtime residents of Vineland, before moving to Milmay to live with their son. George, born in Vineland, was for many years a clothing worker by day and a bartender by night. Throughout those years he bartended at numerous establishments including, Spiegel's Bar, Pano's Fireside Inn, and the White Sparrow Inn. Evelyn, born in Blockton Alabama, moved to Vineland at the age of 7 with her younger brother, Narchie Rigo, upon the death of their parents. She resided with her late uncles, Fred and Lester Nucci. She worked at Nucci's Diner and Model Coat Company. George and Evelyn, along with their sons owned and operated the Fireside Tavern at Main and Oak Roads in Vineland, during the late 70's and throughout the 80's. George was known throughout the area by his nickname, "Gee Wiz", but to his many nieces and nephews, he will always be remembered as "Uncle Joe". Although, the name he received later in life and one that he cherished the most was "Pop-Pop." George and Evelyn will both be remembered for their devotion to their family throughout their lives and the care they provided in raising their twin grandsons. George and Evelyn are survived by twin sons, George Cecola, and Philip Cecola and his wife Paulette (Philage) Cecola, twin grandsons, Cristofer Cecola and Colan Cecola, all from Milmay. George is survived and has sadly been missed by his sister Mary Calabrese of Vineland. Geroge was predeceased by his brothers, Sebastian (Murphy) Cecola, (1973), James (Charkey) Cecola, (2000); sisters, Georgina Polizzi (1986), and Carmella (Millie) Capano, (2001). Evelyn was predeceased by her brother Narchie Rigo (1975). A private service was held on Mondayh, Januray 14, 2008, George and Evelyn Cecola were laid to rest together in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
